Foundation stone laying ceremony - Srilanka
A spiritual and international community service centre dedicated to Shirdi Sai Baba is coming up in Sri Lanka under the aegis of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Trust, Sri Lanka in a sprawling two-acre area. The Foundation stone laying ceremony for the Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Ashram, Meditation and Community Centre at 4717, Elston Estate, Puwakpitiya, Avissawela was organized on 31st March 2018 at 3.00 PM and was attended by a large number of devotees from Sri Lanka and India.
Prominent personalities who graced the occasion include- Revered Dr Chandra Bhanu Satpathy, Speaker of Sri Lanka Parliament, Shri Karu Jayasuriya, Leader of Ceylon Workers Congress Shri Arumugam Thondaman, Counsellor, High Commissioner of India Shri Santosh Verma and Padmasri awardee Shri Nalli Kuppusami Chetti from Chennai. Traditional rituals were observed in the presence of Buddhist monks and priests.
Trustee Shri Ganesh Eassuwaren Deivanayagam welcomed the gathering. An abridged version of Sri Sai Satcharita in the Sinhalese language was released by Dr Chandra Bhanu Satpathyji. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Satpathyji briefly touched on what Sai Path is all about and urged the trustees to take up humanitarian activities in the field of health and education. The Trustees honoured all the guests and the programme ended with a short aarti of Shirdi Sai Baba. Later Anna Prasad was distributed.
Earlier in the day, a discourse on Sai Philosophy by Dr Satpathy was organized at Sai Nathanin Saranalayam at Kotahena, Colombo by the trustees of the temple.
